Hospitality Management Orientation 2015

Orientation Trainees are given a wonderful opportunity to join a four-year in service development programme at the NH-The Lord Charles Hotel where they will be given the opportunity to broaden their hotel skills in this vibrant and professional industry.

Successful trainees follow the following structured programme:

Orientation Year: Individuals are guaranteed a basic wage for 88 hours of duty per month. They are scheduled to work in various departments e.g Front Office, Housekeeping, Administration, Reservations and Food & Beverage enabling them to acquire an overview of the hospitality industry. On completion of this year, successful trainees are selected to attend the Hotel School, to further hone their skills.

Year 1: Students are required to attend six weeks of formal study at the Hotel School, supported by in house training at NH-The Lord Charles. During this year, the College focus is on F&B, Culinary theory Operations, Law, Accounting and Management. The guaranteed number of hours is increased to 40 per week.

Year 2: On meeting the minimum standards set for Year 1, students move onto Year 2 with an increase in remuneration and guaranteed basic hours. Study in F&B Management, Culinary Theory, Operations, Law Accounting and Management, continues at College with the practical component being experienced at the hotel.

Year 3: On meeting the minimum standards set for Year 2, students move onto Year 3, with subsequent increase in remuneration, and guaranteed number of hours. At College, F&B Management, Culinary Theory, Operations, Law, Accounting and Management studies continue with practical experience at the hotel. This year successfully culminates on being awarded a College Diploma and the termination of the contract with the NH-The Lord Charles.

In addition to being remunerated while training with NH-The Lord Charles, the trainees will be supplied with a uniform from their first year onwards and a daily meal whilst on duty. Transport to the College as well as the College tuition fees will be settled by NH-The Lord Charles.

Professional Cookery Orientation Trainees 2015

Orientation Trainees are given a wonderful opportunity to join a four-year in service development programme at NH-The Lord Charles Hotel where they will be given the opportunity to broaden their hotel skills in this vibrant and professional industry.

The programme is structured as follows :
Orientation Year: Individuals are guaranteed a basic wage for 88 hours of duty per month. They are scheduled to work in various departments, eg Hot & Cold Kitchen, Pastry, Breakfast, Room Service, La Vigna + Garden Terrace Restaurants, Night Cook and even Stewardship, enabling them to acquire an overview of the hospitality industry. On completion of this year, successful trainees are selected to attend SA Chefs Academy, to further hone their skills.

Year 1: Students are required to attend six weeks of formal study at the SA Chefs Academy, supported by practical in house training at NH-The Lord Charles. During this year, the College focus is on Culinary theory & practical and French Terminology. The guaranteed number of hours is increased to 40 per week.

Year 2: On meeting the minimum standards set for Year 1, students move onto Year 2 with an increase in remuneration and guaranteed basic hours. Study in Culinary theory & practical and French Terminology continues at College with practical experience at the hotel.

Year 3: On meeting the minimum standards set for Year 2, students move onto Year 3, with subsequent increase in remuneration, and guaranteed number of hours. At College, Culinary theory & practical and French Terminology studies continue as does the practical component at the hotel.
