NH The Lord Charles Hotel refurbishment completed

By Tania Botha

NH South Africa is pleased to announce that the major refurbishment programme of its landmark property, NH The Lord Charles Hotel, near Cape Town, South Africa, has been successfully completed on schedule. The project included major renovations to the conference centre, lobby area and Garden Terrace restaurant, as well as 100 guest rooms.

NH The Lord Charles has 198 beautifully appointed guestrooms and houses one of the largest conference centres in the Western Cape, with a range of venues to suit a variety of events or meetings. Set between the spectacular mountains and vineyards of the Cape Winelands and white sandy beaches of False Bay, the hotel is conveniently situated only 20 minutes’ drive from Cape Town International Airport and 30 minutes’ drive from the Cape Town CBD.

Brilliant Basics

The remodelling of the guestrooms is in line with NH’s Brilliant Basics service offering, which promises guests understated yet perfect comfort and convenience based on four simple, yet fundamental features of their stay at the hotel: a perfect night’s rest, soothing rain effect showers, NH’s excellent breakfast, and free and easy WiFi anywhere in the hotel.  Upgrades to the rooms include a new-look, minimalist decorative theme, furniture and artwork, new beds, 42-inch smart televisions and mini fridges, while the en suite bathrooms have been fitted with rain effect showers and new makeup mirrors.

Premier conference venue

With state-of-the-art conference facilities for up to 600 delegates, a choice of venues to suit any event, however intimate or extravagant, and expert staff, NH The Lord Charles Hotel is one of Cape Town’s premier conference and banqueting venues and internationally renowned for its conferencing capabilities. Its layout has also made it a safe and popular venue to host international and local dignitaries and celebrities: honoured guests include President Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and President Jacob Zuma, to name but a few.

The conference centre has been refurbished and upgraded with the latest state-of-the-art equipment, while the flexible room spaces can be adapted to suit any event and can accommodate anything from a half day business meeting for four delegates or a company presentation for 400. Teleconferencing, PowerPoint presentations and high impact audio and video presentations are the norm at NH The Lord Charles. We have numerous corporate clients who make use of our services on a regular basis because of the value-adding personal touch that we bring to all their requirements.

Corporate & Retail Construction

Work on the extensive refurbishment programme started in June and was completed in stages. The work was carried out and site managed by Corporate & Retail Construction (CRC), a national company specialising in project management, construction and shop fitting, with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg. CRC offers clients a full turnkey service, from the inception and planning stages to the completion of any project. Clients include the V&A Waterfront, Clicks Group and Edcon.

According to Jaco du Plooy, Sales, Marketing and Revenue Manger at NH Hotels South Africa, every effort was made to ensure that guests were not inconvenienced during the renovation work and the project unfolded with minimum disruption to the normal functioning of the hotel. Du Plooy added that the hotel management is very happy with the end result: “We are absolutely thrilled with the new look of the hotel and we cannot wait to showcase the brand new NH The Lord Charles Hotel to our valued clients and guests.”
